Students will spend four weeks learning Macromedia Flash, a 2D
animation program. They will learn the concepts of time-based animation
using keyframes. Some of the projects they will be creating are
listed below. If you would like to see examples, click on each link.

The first principle taught in 2D animation is creating keyframes
to change an image over time. Students will create a stickman
movie about 80 frames long that will demonstrate their knowledge
of keyframe animation.
A motion guide
requires a drawing object that has been converted to a symbol.
You then apply motion to that symbol to identify where it
starts in one keyframe and where it stops in the last keyframe.
You then create a separate layer and use the pencil tool to
draw a path for the symbol to follow from beginning to end.
Once the symbol
is attached to the motionn guide at the beginning and ending
keyframe, it will move from one location to another following
that guide.
This project teaches
the use of multiple scenes in a movie, controlling motion
guides on multiple layers, and creating a text mask for the
movie credits.
