Welcome to the Multimedia website
for students at Box Elder High School. My goal is to provide all
assignments online to create a paperless classroom. If you finish
an assignment, you can come online and get information to begin
the next.
Multimedia is a fun and exciting area that was
implemented into the Business curriculum at Box Elder High school
in 2000. In Multimedia-A, students
learn the basic tools of a bitmap editor (Adobe Photoshop) to create
and edit images and graphics. They learn how to use a vector based
program (Adobe Illustrator) to manipulate text on specified paths.
2D animation is taught using Macromedia's Flash so students will
learn a time-based environment. Students are also introduced to
an authoring software (Tribeworks iShell) to pull all media together
into an interactive project.
Multimedia-B teaches
students how to work with an audio program (Cool Edit 2000) to create
custom sounds and music to create a 30-second radio commercial,
a 3D animation program (Cinema 4D) to build models and wireframe
objects and apply skin, lighting, and animation to them and render
them as Quicktime movies. Students learn how to use a video editing
program (Adobe Premiere) to add motion and video effects to pictures
and movie clips then put the movie to music and render it as a movie
file. This class is a project-based course and a lot of fun.
The Advanced Multimedia
Production A & B courses teach how to implement all of
the above programs by building individual and team projects. These
projects are submitted to the Utah Multimedia Arts Festival in April
of each year. Students who attend this festival have the opportunity
to see what is happening in multimedia in post-secondary institutions,
and listen to industry speakers to hear and see new and inovative
approaches to multimedia design & development in business and
industry.
The main focus of the last class (Adv Prod-B)
is to create the senior video and produce it on a DVD to sell to
the student body at the end of the school year. This is one of the
most exciting activites the students look forward to each year.
