Madrigals
Madrigals in the top level preforming group at Box Elder High School. There are
Sopranos, Altos, Tenors, Basses… and let us not forget, the Sopaltos—those
of us who are so talented and adaptable that we can sing either Soprano
or Alto (hee hee hee yes-that includes me!). It is a very difficult group
to get into, but well worth it.
Our song that the lovely, talented, young, thin Claudia Bigler wrote
for us this year is called "Blessed Are They". It is a beautiful
arrangement, with piano accompaniment that adds a very sweet background
for the singing. We all love it!
To tie in with the theme song, the Madrigal officers decided
that we wanted to have another little theme. We want all of those in
Madrigals
this year to "Be Aware". We want to realize the many talents
of those in Madrigals, and also of others around us. We are hoping to
establish an attitude of gratitude for others, through being aware of
the many little things that people do for us everyday. We believe that
the more we try to appreciate and understand others, the more we will
grow closer together, and we will be able to touch more people’s
lives through our music. After all—you sing the best with friends!
One of the busiest seasons for Madrigals is the Christmas season. Throughout
December the Madrigals perform for all of the local elementary schools,
and also many other parties and get-togethers. It’s busy, but so
fun! Our program contains both silly and serious songs, and can be adapted
according to where we are performing.
Having the opportunity to be in Madrigals has touched my life in so many
ways. It is very fun, but more than that, it is very fulfilling. When
we perform for others, we hope that maybe those who listen to us can
also be fulfilled. Music has the ability to touch people’s hearts
in a way that nothing else can, and we love it.
