2007-2008 Concert Choir. Concert Choir is going very well so far this year. We have around 90 students, each just brimming with talent. We sing well together and have a whole lot of fun! Half of the time in class we work incredibly hard on singing, the other half we laugh and listen to Mrs. Bigler and Mrs. Holmgren tell stories. Last year, Haidyn Knuteson made a hat rack in his Wood shop Class for Mrs. Bigler's Choir Class. We always have students walking in with beanies or other kinds of hats on. The hat rack is where the students are to leave them so they aren't tempted to put them back on. Recently, we watched the 80's movie Footloose to prepare us for the Spring Musical. Tryouts were held the first month of school, but the production of the musical postponed. So we will be having tryouts for the musical again sometime in November or December for you that didn't have the opportunity to tryout the first time. We have 2 concerts a trimester and sing different songs for each. It is a lot of fun to be able to sit in the audience to watch your friends and peers sing in the different choir classes. You can see another part of a person that you had never seen before. There is so much expression in music. Our class is currently preparing for the Christmas Temple Square production to be held at the end of November. Last year, we sang with Logan and Murray high schools at the Tabernacle, so I am sure that we will sing with other high schools this year as well. We always have a Christmas Concert with fabulous, traditional Christmas music. This year we will record our music and make a CD for everyone to buy. Our Choir Department is outstanding, so I know that the CD will be the same. This year we will be going on our Choir Trip to Branson, Missouri in April. Members planning on going to Branson have been saving money for months. They have been working extra hours at work, selling Happenings books, and selling Smiths and Kent's coupons. More fund-raisers are on the way so we can make money lots of different ways. We have our Fall concert coming up November 12th. We have been practicing some amazing songs. Our class favorite is The Pilgrim Song. We literally cheer when Mrs. Bigler asks us to get it out! We all put so much love and feeling into the song, so I hope that when we sing it for the concert that the audience will be able to feel it too. So don’t forget November 12th. If you think that you’d like to be a member of Concert Choir (and you’re still in High School), try-outs are usually the end of March or early April. So start getting ready!
